Spring is in the air and as green shoots appear all around us, we are pleased to announce more growth in our tax team with ATT qualified Tom Jones.

Tom joins us from PwC where he spent eight years’ in the Global Mobility team helping corporates manage tax and compliance risks when deploying staff overseas and into the UK. Tom started out on a School Leaver’s programme and learnt on the job as he gained his Association of Tax Technicians’ qualifications and plenty of industry experience.

Now switching to specialise in R&D tax credits, Tom is looking to bring his experience of working with clients in the aerospace industry to bear at ForrestBrown. He is also looking forward to the sheer diversity of cases that we handle at ForrestBrown: from digital agencies and software developers to engineering firms and food producers.

Tom is a keen sports fan and is hoping that he may see some claims relating to the sports industry too. That is certainly an innovative sector with major talent operating in the UK including in F1, cycling, analytics and equipment design.

And when it comes to sport outside the office, Tom keeps himself busy. A big football fan he both plays for his local team and coaches one of the youth teams. If there is one thing concerning Tom right now it is that both the teams he supports (locally Bristol City and further afield Newcastle United) are under threat of relegation. Perhaps the most likely outcome is that he will be able to watch them play each other in the Championship next season.

In his first week at ForrestBrown, Tom observed:

“The culture at ForrestBrown is friendly and welcoming so I am settling in quickly. Previously, I was mostly desk based and one of the things I am looking forward to here is the client interaction:  getting out and meeting clients on site – really developing an understanding of their business to help maximise the value of the R&D tax credits they are entitled to.”

Managing Director Simon Brown is pleased to have Tom in the team:

“Having just come out of our busiest spell, and with no let-up in pipeline business, it’s great to have another talented tax professional like Tom in the team.”

ForrestBrown is also on the lookout for two ambitious tax consultants. To find out more, see our Careers page.
