Emily is a senior tax manager in ForrestBrown’s advisory team and is qualified as both a chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser. She provides proactive, practical and actionable advice to a broad range of businesses on R&D tax law, claim methodologies and tax disputes. Her work includes supporting clients across all forms of enquiry (Large Business, WMBC, ISBC and FIS), as well as wider advisory engagements, including EPW/subcontractor analysis, claim reviews and R&D workshops.

Emily holds a first-class honours degree in economics and management from the University of Bristol, where she was awarded a Dean’s Commendation. Subsequent awards have included first place in the South West for ACA Advanced Level paper for Strategic Business Management and ForrestBrown Rising Star.

Emily joined ForrestBrown in 2019, where she spent the first three and a half years in end-to-end R&D practice, holding a wide portfolio of clients while also working on some of the company’s largest and most complex claims. She joined FB Consulting in January 2023 and has since played a key part in building the team. She works alongside tax sector specialists to help clients uncover the full extent of their R&D activity, as well as with the policy team to understand legislative changes.

She has a special interest in the new contracting out legislation and in helping companies to get ahead of this issue and mitigate the impact on their business.
