Mark has been appointed in the role of executive Chairman and brings a wealth of experience as an entrepreneur, business leader, marketer, technologist and business mentor.
Keen business acumen
Mark is Founder and CEO of Mubaloo – an award-winning mobile app development business. Mubaloo, is one of Europe’s largest independent enterprise app development agencies, with offices in Bristol, London and Munich. Mubaloo has advised on mobile strategy and built apps for prestigious companies such as Hargreaves Lansdown, Aviva, The RAC and the Met Office. Mubaloo were ranked third in Deloitte’s UK Technology Top 50 2014, which tracks the UK’s fastest growing technology firms.
Prior to his success with Mubaloo, Mark had already displayed keen business acumen in building up several other successful digital marketing agencies in Bristol. He founded Mason Zimbler, a leading digital marketing agency in 1997 and quickly went on to establish an enviable list of clients including Microsoft, Toshiba, BBC and AMD. US based digital and direct marketing specialists Harte Hanks acquired the business in 2008.
Mark’s track-record in growing businesses speaks for itself. And having had a year of meteoric growth ourselves, it will be helpful to have someone who has ‘been there and done it’ on the team to help guide us on our path ahead.
Doctor of Technology
In 2014 the University of the West of England recognised Mark’s expertise and awarded him an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Technology, for his significant contribution to the field of mobile technology. Given ForrestBrown’s own focus on R&D in the digital sector, Mark’s experience and reputation in this area will be an invaluable addition to an already strong knowledge base.
Oversight and mentoring
Mark is also a Governor of the University of the West of England and is Non-Executive Director of Business West. He is also heavily involved in The Prince’s Trust as Chairman of The South West Leadership Group since 2009.
Such roles have afforded him extensive experience in organisational oversight and individual mentoring: both attributes that will complement the energy, vision and technological knowledge that already exist within ForrestBrown.
Managing Director Simon Brown is very enthusiastic about bringing Mark Mason on board in the role of Chairman:
“Having the opportunity to work alongside Mark was a complete no-brainer for me. Mark has a great reputation as a successful entrepreneur in the UK’s digital scene, after all he has ‘been there and done it’, but for me personally, it is Mark’s wealth of experience, his business instincts, his experience of the different stages of the business lifecycle, his network and his mentoring…that is the compelling package that will enhance ForrestBrown’s leadership team.”
Dr Mark Mason commented:
“Having worked with Simon and his team I’ve witnessed first hand the transformative impact that ForrestBrown deliver for their clients. When Simon explained ForrestBrown’s proposition the opportunity was immediately clear, innovative businesses need a risk free way to access the hugely valuable government incentives available to them“.
He added “After speaking with other senior figures in the digital community the lack of awareness of the potential benefits of R&D tax relief was staggering, the ForrestBrown team’s ability to communicate the potential benefit in a clear and easily understandable way is what really makes them stand out. With almost £10 million already recovered for happy clients over the past year ForrestBrown boast a demonstrable 100% success rate. I’m greatly looking forward to working with them in an advisory capacity, and using my public platform to help to inform other businesses in the digital sector about the considerable levels of tax relief available to them.”
